Saturday 16 July 1.15pm Workshop -7.00pm performance

Following the success of our previous 'from scratch' workshop/performances, Brisbane Concert Choir now invites singers from South East Queensland and beyond to take part in a rehearsal and performance of The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins. Further details are provided below and also in our downloadable Flyer and Registration Form.

‘From Scratch’ performances are usually rehearsed and performed in one day, accompanied by piano or organ. We, however, are able to offer the complete performance experience, with a professional orchestra, soloists and conductor Debra Shearer-Dirié. All singers are welcome. You don’t have to belong to a choir to take part. In fact, it’s a great way for ‘shower-only' singers to take it to the next level. It’s not too difficult, and it’s fun. Take the plunge! Because there will be many singers present who have performed the work before, you don't have to be note-perfect. If you the odd mistake, no one will know. The important thing is to have fun and help to make it an event to be remembered.

For an all inclusive price of $60, you receive a copy of the music to keep, a rehearsal CD for your part, afternoon tea, dinner, and the opportunity to take part in a performance of this wonderful work. (If you don't need the music posted nor a rehearsal CD the cost is $55).

We will also have two optional rehearsals before the day. Because The Armed Man is a large work we are offering singers the opportunity to rehearse with Debra Shearer-Dirié at two of Brisbane Concert Choir's regular Tuesday rehearsals dedicated to this music. The dates are 28 June and 12 July. In order to help us to raise money for our 2011 tour to Italy, we will be charging $15 for attendance at each of these rehearsals (or both for $25). We offered such extra rehearsal opportunities in 2008 and 2009 and they were very popular, so book early.

There will be seats available for supporters to be in the audience for the performance only for $15.00.

Because of the popularity of this work, we anticipate that all of the available places will be taken up before bookings close. Therefore, if you wish to sing with us, it is essential to book in advance to reserve your seat. We are limited, by our venue and by our catering facilities, to a fixed number of participants. When we reach this number we will reluctantly have to decline further acceptances.
