Founding Accompanist

Bronwyn Brown

Bronwyn began piano lessons at the age of five, continuing her studies through childhood to attain an A.Mus.A. in Piano Performing. She also studied violin, and pipe organ with Sydney Deputy City Organist, Robert Goode.

Her career as a musician soon developed towards accompaniment, due to her particular talent for sight-reading. It proved to be an invaluable asset during the ten years that she was an official accompanist for the City of Sydney Eisteddfod, and also in her position as organist for thirty years at her local church.

Since her schooldays, Bronwyn has been rehearsal and performance pianist for countless singers and instrumentalists, musical societies and choirs, including the Sydney Male Choir and Willoughby Municipal Choir, and personal repetiteur for several principal artists from Opera Australia.

She has been accompanist and membership secretary for the Brisbane Concert Choir since its inception in 1995. Her “day” job in Brisbane was that of schoolteacher, having been Head of the Mathematics Department at St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School, and she is the past Secretary of the Accompanists’ Guild of Queensland.

Bronwyn and her husband Graeme moved to Canberra at the end of 2005, where she now uses her talents to enrich the cultural life of her local community.
