Singing again soon!
We are hoping it will be possible to return to a program of live rehearsals again soon for the first time since the pandemic brought our 2020 schedule to a sudden halt in mid-March. There is work still to do to ensure a resumption is safe and in accordance with government restrictions. We're rehearsing via online videos in the meantime.
At the time of shutdown we we working on two very special compositions - J. S. Bach's Trauerode - Lass Fürstin (BWV 198) and Requiem in D (ZWV 46) by Jan Dismas Zelenka, a contemporary and good friend of Bach. That concert and others we were planning, including performances at Hobart's annual Festival of Voices had to be postponed indefinitely.
Another victim of the pandemic was the Big Sing which we were scheduled to host in Brisbane in October this year in partnership with the Australian National Choral Assn.
We miss singing, performing wonderful choral music and sharing those profound experiences with our concert audiences. We'll keep you posted on our moves to resume singing together and hopefully a new schedule of concerts before too long.
In the meantime we hope and trust that you, your families and your friends stay well.
