Join us for ANCA's Big Sing under the expert guidance of Dr Debra Shearer Dirié.

This biennial event is a series of choral workshops, held over three days, where all participants learn to sing together in harmony under the directorship of a trained and professional conductor.

This year the Big Sing was to be hosted by Brisbane Concert Choir in October and Dr Debra Shearer Dirié, Musical Director of Brisbane Concert Choir had selected a number of exciting works for the weekend, including:

  • Within the circles of our lives by Giselle Wyers.

  • Weep no more by David N Childs.

  • Skip to My Lou arranged by Rachel Stenson.

  • Cloths of Heaven by Mark Sirett.

  • Bell-Birds by Will Brown

The weekend event was to culminates in a public concert on the afternoon of Sunday, October 4, but has had to be postponed because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

If the event is rescheduled for 2021 we will get the updated information out to you as soon as possible. Typically your registration would include:

  • participation in the rehearsals and concert

  • a sheet music pack containing the works that we will rehearse and perform

  • lunch, morning and afternoon tea on Saturday and Sunday

The Big Sing was first was established in 2001 with the first event held in Queensland at Maryborough.  Since then the Big Sing has become a regular event hosted by many different regional choirs. The now postponed 2020 event was to be held at the excellent music hall at Coorparoo State High School in Brisbane.
