27 November 2021
Hello again everyone,
Just a reminder that Tuesday's rehearsal will be at The Lussh, 9 Hubert St , Woolloongabba
We are hoping to be able to gain access a little bit early to set up chairs etc, but we will definitely be in at 6:15pm. Please be there as close to that time as possible. The jazz ensemble is coming at 6:45 and we need to be warmed up and to have worked out positions before that.
The link to booked parking has been on our website for a while and is also in the attachment and email from Barb to show how it works.
Please allow time to get to the venue ( it is well hidden). There is plenty of on street parking on the streets nearby.
Woolloongabba busway station is across Stanley St from the venue and Park Road train station is 1km walk away.
Don't forget. you can also find links to the rehearsal tracks on the website.
Please listen to them as much as possible between now and Tuesday ( and again before the concert) so we can really be " in the groove" for the rehearsal with the ensemble

Well done everyone on another successful 'From Scratch'! Reports are that it was a rewarding and enjoyable day for the singers, who represented a diversity of choirs from around south-east Queensland and beyond! Thanks to everyone who helped out yesterday with the many practical aspects of running an event like this, in addition to your musical contributions.
Here's a run-down on the plans for the rest of the year:
We have four Tuesday rehearsals left before our Christmas in Blue concert! We plan to have the final rehearsal at The Lussh, to get us used to the acoustic and the spacing in the concert venue. We are also going to take the opportunity to trial the Old Museum Building, on Gregory Tce, as a rehearsal space. The schedule is thus:
09/11 usual space at 180 Brisbane, 6:15-8:45.
16/11 Old Museum Building, 6:30-9:00.
23/11 Old Museum Building, 6:30-9:00.
30/11 The Lussh, 6:15-9:00.
Parking on site at the Old Museum is very limited, and most of the street parking is metered until 7pm. However, there is a carpark nearby at King St, which allows up to 3 hours parking for free in the evenings:
We will be in 'Studio 3', with entry via the doors on the east side of the building (Not the entrance at the front that you would use when attending a concert, but rather around to the right-hand side).
Carolling at Brisbane Quarter
We will again be carolling at Brisbane Quarter, 300 George St, over several nights in December:
Tue, Wed & Thu 14th, 15th and 16th.
The carolling will be from 6pm-7pm each evening. Note that the first carolling session is in the week prior to our Christmas in Blue concert. There'll be a sign up sheet at rehearsals for you to indicate your availability. This is an important fundraiser for the choir, as well as being a bit of fun.

*Wedding October 3rd
We still need more singers please, particularly sopranos. This is a much needed fundraising opportunity for the choir, not to mention a commitment to the bride to make her day extra special. Please see what you can do. If we have too many voices, Debra will select the best mix for the event.
* Weekend rehearsal Sunday October 10th 1:30 to 4:30pm with a break for afternoon tea.
This will be at Holland Park State school hall, Wilbur St, Holland Park and will give us a chance to check the hall prior to the from Scratch event, allow us a seated rehearsal in quiet surroundings and also a chance for a bit of a catch up. We will provide tea coffee and afternoon tea, but ask that you bring your own mug or cup.
* Regional tour to western and southern Qld June 25 to July 3 2022
We will be sending details of a proposed itinerary (and hopefully an idea of costs) shortly, but please give some serious thought as to whether you will be able to come with us on this trip. Murray (and others) are actively working with people in a number of regional centres with a view to firming up performance, recording and sightseeing opportunities, but the trip will not be viable without singers!
It may seem to some that we are asking too much too soon, but with closed borders preventing interstate and international travel, the regional areas are becoming heavily booked well in advance and because of our likely numbers, we really do need to book venues and accommodation pretty soon.
* The Armed Man “from scratch” November 7th
Bookings are trickling in slowly for this event. We would love to have a full house to share this powerful work, so please spread the word as far and wide as possible. It will be many people’s first chance for a long time to sing in a group and for all of us, the chance to sing again with an orchestra is an opportunity to be cherished.
*Christmas Jazz Carols
The committee is looking at a few venues for this event and will update you with that and confirm the date as soon as we know it for certain.
* Debra would like an updated list of the vaccine status of the choir membership.
Please go to the Doodle poll on the following link and either update your status if it has changed, or add yourself to it if you have not done so previously. Future planning may well need to take this information into consideration. To update your status, just “ hover” over your name with your mouse and click on the pencil that appears.
Please remember to send your apologies through to the choir account if you know in advance you will be away and on the day to the choir phone 0475 262 649 (maybe put it in your phone now)
