Simon Halsey occupies a unique position in classical music. He is the trusted advisor on choral singing to the world’s greatest conductors, orchestras and choruses, and also an inspirational teacher and ambassador for choral singing to amateurs of every age, ability and background. Making singing a central part of the world-class institutions with which he is associated, he has been instrumental in changing the level of symphonic singing across Europe.

 

Music to be covered on the day: David Lang - The National Anthems;  from Benjamin Britten’s “Friday Afternoons” - Old Abram Brown; Salley Gardens; Howard Goodall - The Lord is my Shepherd; Eriks Esenvalds - The Cloud; from Vaughan Williams "Five Mystical Songs" - Let all the World.

 

The workshop is open to regular choral singers aged 16 and over with the ability to quickly familiarise themselves with a piece of music. Numbers are limited. 

Registration includes participation in all rehearsals and the concert, your own copy of the published editions of the music to keep and afternoon tea on the day. 

 

Cost: $65 including refreshments and some of the music to keep.
