Re: Happy New year! Tentative schedule for 2022
I hope the new year finds you well rested and free from Covid. The committee met last night to plan for the year ahead which, like the last 2 years, is proving challenging. We are nevertheless hopeful of a year of some wonderful music-making together. See below for some important updates.
Delayed Return to Rehearsals
With the peak of this current Covid wave still predicted to be in late January/early February, we have made the decision to postpone our first rehearsal to February 22nd, starting at 6:30pm. This will hopefully mean that we will have reached the peak and will be starting to see a decline in cases. We may of course need to delay further if case numbers do not follow the modelling. While we await the start, we will try to get some music to you electronically and possibly offer a rehearsal or two on line as we did earlier in the pandemic. Check 2022 Rehearsal Calendar
Rehearsal Venue and Covid Safety
Due to Covid safety concerns we will continue to rehearse in well-ventilated venues. Thus our main rehearsal venue this year will be the Old Museum Building (OMB), where we can have all the verandah doors open and can of course space out much more than we did towards the end of last year. In line with government regulations, you will need to be fully vaccinated in order to enter the venue (make sure you have proof of vaccination ready on your phone to show at the door). If you are due for a booster, we would encourage that too. If the current mask mandate is still in place, you will need to wear a mask at all times within the venue, except if you need to remove it in order to sing (and then only while you are singing).
We have an exciting line up of music and concerts for the year, starting with a Gjeilo and Bach combination which we may repeat in a regional area as part of a weekend away😊 . We are also looking forward to performing at the Brisbane Writers Festival (BWF) in May. See Home page and Season 2022
Further details to follow, once arrangements with collaborators and concert venues start to firm up. In the mean time, please refer to the schedule attached, which, aside from rehearsal details, includes tentative dates for concerts. Occasionally, the OMB is unavailable (’TBD’ on the schedule) and we are just awaiting confirmation of an alternative venue for those weeks.
